Pension and Welfare Officer policy
Young Diggers has, as a matter of policy, set the following criteria for all authorised and accredited Pension and Welfare Officers.
- You must be appointed, in writing, by Young Diggers as an authorised Practitioner to assist veterans, serving and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), declared persons and all their dependants.
- All officers are required to attend Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), Training and Information Program (TIP) training courses, workshops and activities to maintain currency and acceditation.
- You must undertake and pass assessments as required to maintain accreditation.
- You, as an authorised practitioner shall act as a Pension and/or Welfare Officer for Young Diggers.
- You must abide by the TIP Code of Ethics.
- You must always behave ethically, truthfully and honestly, plus encourage others to always behave the same in all manner of actions, tasks and activities.
- By your behaviour, manner, conversations or actions must not bring the name of Young Diggers into disrepute.
- Breaches of this policy may result in loss of accreditation.
Pension and Welfare Officer policy on training and accreditation requirements
Young Diggers has, as a matter of policy, set the following criteria for all new Pension and Welfare Officers.
- Appointment is only granted after a minimum qualifying period of 12 months on-the-job training, assistance and assessment by a Young Diggers Pension or Welfare Officer appointed to mentor you.
- As a Welfare Officer in training, you must abide by the TIP Code of Ethics.
- As a Welfare Officer in training, you are not permitted to conduct any welfare activities without prior approval and consent from your Young Diggers mentor.
- As a Welfare Officer in training, you are not permitted to represent Young Diggers in any capacity or forum without prior approval from your mentor.
- During your period of training you will be covered by Young Diggers approved activities.
- Accreditation as a Welfare Officer will only be granted after the qualifying period, provided you meet all the standards and assessments required by Young Diggers.
- You must always behave ethically, truthfully and honestly, plus encourage others to always behave the same in all manner of actions, tasks and activities.

- Breaches of this training policy may result in loss of traineeship.
